Fairstone said the findings were in line with recent government statistics estimating 10m people in the UK were expected to live to the age of 100.
Despite the increased financial pressures this will have on consumers, only around 8 per cent of all UK adults have received financial advice, according to the Financial Conduct Authority’s evaluation of its work on the financial advice market out last year.
